Ministries of the ChurchEffective programming, which we prefer to call "ministries" at Memorial Tabernacle Church (MTC), is based on the Holy Spirit's direction and planning. Into that process come the best God-given abilities we have (i.e., Spirit-inspired ideas, suggestions from various sources; an awareness of the needs of our Church and community, prayer and guidance of the Holy Spirit). The following is a description of some of the ministry services or helps currently provided by our Church. They are presented in an effort to acquaint you with the wide variety of opportunities for creative involvement in the life of our church. They will give you some idea of some of the programs, which your support provides. If we are not meeting your particular need, please let us know. As our church continues to grow, we will be more than happy to consider any suggestions or ideas you feel would help you to become involved in the ministry of the church. Christian EducationThe Christian Education ministry at Memorial Tabernacle Church is a teaching ministry. It is determined directly by the teaching ministry of Jesus Christ and His Great Commission to his disciples (see Matthew 28:19-20). We provide weekly Christ-centered Bible teaching, designed to assist and encourage believers and seekers to participate in their quest for understanding the Christian faith. Sunday School: Studying the Bible is very important to your Christian growth. Each Sunday, beginning at 9:15 a.m., Christian education classes are provided for the exploration of Christian faith and practice. We strongly encourage you to participate. Qualified teachers give instruction and guidance in the Word of God for your personal spiritual development and growth. Conversational Bible Study with the PastorOur Pastor teaches this Bible Class and it is specifically designed for adult and young adult members. It is an excellent way for new members to get to know the Pastor and other members in the body. The Pastor teaches on a wide array of subjects, topics, and themes from the Word of God that are relevant and timely for practical everyday Christian living. Our Bible Class is held Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. Register: https://zoom.us/meeting/register/upQldO-vqDwjlEVEOOLDiQj3TvS68R6UiQ. Prayer MinistryGather within your respective homes each week, Sunday evenings from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Join us as we make our requests known and petitions heard in the throne room of God. We look forward miracles, signs, and wonders being performed, as we together fight together in prayer against the enemy. EvangelismAt Memorial Tabernacle Church every believer is an evangelist. Our task, our mandate, our great commission is: "Go. . .and make disciples" (Matthew 28:19). We are not concerned merely about statistics, or charts, or budgets or even church membership, if in the last analysis we have failed to make disciples. Christian disciples are those in whom the creative, redemptive work of God is going on because they have opened their lives to Christ's forgiving, cleansing grace and to God's transforming power through the Holy Spirit. This process of being filled with all the fullness of God we call "spiritual formation". They are God's new creation. The gospel is not just what Christ has done; it is also what He is still doing through His disciples, for His world. Women's Missions FellowshipMinistry Leader: Elder Mrs. Jeanette Wortz The Women's Missions Fellowship (WMF) is a community of Spirit-filled women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship of women; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in local and global ministries of the church. The women meet various times throughout the year! Men's FellowshipThe Men's Fellowship is a creative supportive fellowship of Spirit-filled men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually, and to seek daily His will. Its primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships. Join the men and friends of MTC every Fifth Sunday for our special Men's Fellowship Worship Service. Young People Ministry
Mission Statement: The purposes of the Young People Ministry is to: MTC Embracing Our CommunityConnecting with Community thru Breakfast in Bed, Summer Connections, Garden, & Health Promotion Embracing Our Community is responsible for maintaining contact with community concerns, like neighborhood groups, safety issues impacting church and community, voter registration, health and welfare, and other community issues and concerns. The church is the center of community life and its presence and purpose is to do its best to meet social, spiritual and human needs. To learn more about the ministries activities, please email us at grow@memorialtabernacle.org. Safety GreetersMinistry Leaders: Deaconess Valerie Savage The purpose of the Safety Greeters is to ensure all attendees are welcomed and screened to enter the sanctuary. Safety always! The Safety Greeters also serve the Lord and the Body in ministry by directing the flow of people both in and out of our worship services and to be sensitive to their spiritual influence as the "face" of the Body, in giving that initial greeting and contact for newcomers who enter our services in their first encounter with the Church. Worship and Praise MinistryMinistry Leaders: Pastor Ulysses Stephen King, Jr and Brother Smiley Brown The Worship and Praise Ministry is involved in providing an atmosphere of praise and worship at Memorial Tabernacle Church. It includes, devotional team leaders and soloists, praise dancers, and MTC Praise Team Singers. Music MinistryIt is without saying, the value and importance of music in the church is unquestioned. For centuries music has been used of God in the church to accomplish His purposes. Music is God-ordained. It is the universal language of the human soul. It is the natural speech of the Christ-filled heart and is the medium through which the soul reaches out to God. At Memorial Tabernacle Church, the purpose of the Music Ministry is to express praise, prayer, and gratitude to God, to promote the spirit of devotion and worship, to teach and preserve divine truth, and to unify and point the unsaved to God. This is expressed through the playing of musical instruments, singing hymns and praise songs, witness songs, the choir, guest musicians and soloists. Rehearsals are held 2nd Sundays following Morning Worship. 2017 Annual Consecration & 21-Day Daniel's FastTheme: "Tilling the Ground for a New Harvest: HOPE"Text: 1 Peter 3:14-17; Hosea 10:12 First, we should realize that, as believers, we may be asked to explain not only what we believe, but why we believe it. We start by sanctifying Christ as Lord in our hearts. This means that He will rule us completely as Master and His will should be our desire. If Christ is Lord and Master, then we should have no trouble not only believing His word, but obeying it to the best of our ability. Peter says we should be ready to explain the hope that is in us.
